I may be a little biased, but I like to think that any Talulah dress can shine on its own! I’ve always said the only accessory these dresses require are beautiful, confident women wearing them.

I will always stand by this statement, but I am a fashionista at heart, and every fashionista knows that accessorizing is the best way to make a good outfit great- if styled correctly!

So where to start? If you’re anything like me, your jewelry box is probably overflowing with necklaces that you swore would jazz up your wardrobe, and your dresser is covered with bangles and 100 other bracelets you just had to have. You’re running out of space to put the rings that you impulsively keep buying even though you have yet to wear one in public.

Still, despite your extensive accessories collection, day after day you go with the basics: studs or pearls and a simple silver necklace or bracelet.  Why risk over-doing it when you know your go-to essentials always work? I mean even Coco Chanel once famously said, “Before leaving the house, a lady should stop, look in the mirror, and remove one piece of jewelry.” If Coco was worried about over-accessorizing, I’m sure going to be!

When I feel this way I refer back to this guide I made for myself, and now I’m sharing with you! Here is a fashionista’s guide to accessorizing like a pro!

Make Sure Each Piece Adds Value to Your Look

Just because something is pretty or sentimental doesn’t mean you should wear it or that it goes with every outfit. Especially when styling patterns, like a floral Talulah dress, your accessories should be complementary to the outfit, not the focal point.

Choose Accessories That Punctuate Your Style

Just like clothes, accessories are a great way to show off your style. One way to choose accessories that complement your style is to look at the finishes of pieces. For example, if you’re going for an organic look, then I suggest choosing jewelry items with a textured matte finish. If you have more of an eclectic style, then you may want to combine accessories with both matte and shiny finishes to give the dress that extra edge.

Shop for Accessories When You Shop for Clothes

Do you know someone who seems to have perfectly tailored accessories for every outfit? Well, there’s a good chance that they bought their accessories at the same time they bought their new clothes.

Pro tip: The key factor when thinking about styling floral or patterns, like the ones on most Talulah dresses, try to avoid overdoing it. Choose accessories and shoes that complement the hues in the print and keep the florals to the dress only – accessorizing with decorative accessories will be far too much floral/pattern to create a clashing look.

Add Bright Pops of Color to Minimalist Outfits

If you’re someone who sticks to a minimalist wardrobe with a lot of neutral colors like black, gray, and white, then the best thing to do is to use your accessories to add a pop of color to your look.

For example, if you’re in the Champagne Cocktail Mini Dress of the Night Changes Mini Dress, think about adding brightly-colored statement earrings to break things up. Or, if you like the idea of accessorizing but don’t want to add jewelry to your look, you can accessorize with a brightly-colored purse.

Gold and silver jewelry are the trendiest ways to style any look. Layered necklaces and hoop earrings are go-to’s that add a simple, yet bold statement to your outfit.

Accessorizing is hard and can be pretty scary, but the right choices can make you feel like your closet doubled in size. Hopefully, this guide to accessorizing helps you feel even more runway-ready in your Talulah dress!
